THE SOAPBOX ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULE Please keep in mind that all shows are subject to an underage surcharge and a non-member fee. Also, at times the possibility exists that an event will sell out. In most situations where an indication is given that this might occur, we try to make advance tickets available. We suggest purchasing in advance when traveling from out of town. Thursday
January 27th: Cigar Store Indians have traveled many miles on their long journey to become a certified blip on the radar screen of rock and roll. Like life itself the road has been filled with many ups and downs. Through it all, they stood tall and stared adversity straight in the face. Take an aspirin if your head hurts, take in the show if your feelin' down. They possess the power to move you in ways you'd never imagine. It's a toe-tapping, foot-stomping, Waffle-House shuffling, cow-tipping good time. Billy Joe Murphy Thursday
January 27th: LAUNDRO-LOUNGE Mixed Media with The Power Ballad DJ's Friday
January 28th: THE DAP-KINGS are the house band for Daptone Records, where today's hottest Funk and Soul is laid to tape. They are presently the worlds mightiest Live Funk and Soul Revue, unique in their ability to deliver the kind of Soul Excitement that hasn't been felt since Mr. Brown himself graced the stage of the Apollo in 1969. The Dap-Kings are made up of musicians from The Soul Providers and The Mighty Imperials, both of which gained recognition for laying the music behind Desco Records' legendary catalog of funk 45's and LP's. Though their recordings are unmatched for their hardness and sheer ability to make people dance, their live show is what makes them a phenomenon. When the Dap-Kings take to the stage with their dance steps and matching soul suits, it is as if someone lit the fuse on a keg of Soul Dynamite! Power Ballad DJ's Saturday
January 29th: Meatcamp Productions Presents Moonshine Still was conceived in the summer of 1996 when lead singer/ guitarist Scott Baston and bass player Ray Petren teamed up with several other musicians in Macon, GA. Will Robinson (drums, vocals) joined up that fall and they began working on a soulful sound deep with roots that yearned to go some place new. Shortly after their first studio release Moonshine Still began to go through personnel changes. First, they added Bill Jarrett (percussion), followed by David Shore (guitar). With the addition of these adept players Moonshine Still added another layer of musicality to an already strong songwriting/vocal foundation. With these additions, Moonshine Still began to expand their touring radius from Tallahasse, Florida to Knoxville, TN and managed to put out a second album entitled, "Circle Around the Sun". After releasing "Circle Around the Sun" the last musical piece fell into place with the addition of Trippe Wright on keyboards. Trippe's church organ wail and trippy synth parts immediately locked into place and finally the unit felt complete. With a rock solid rhythm section, soaring guitars a! nd keyboards and powerful vocals, they can easily move from metal to soul to reggae to klesmer to techno and many other places on the musical map while maintaining a strong songwriting base that is always Moonshine Still. This is evident on the release of their live album "Moon Over Georgia" which showcases the band in it's element, on stage, moving effortlessly from style to style. Woodwork Road Show Monday

February 19th: The North Carolina trio returns to The SoapBox after nearly a year. They were the buzz of MerleFest last spring because of their rowdy acoustic, hillbilly punk. Music critics and observers have been jumping all over themselves thinking up new descriptions for the brothers’ talent. One calls their music "ragged glory." Another calls the Avetts’ singing "sweet brother harmonies." And still another calls their style an "old-time technique with a modern-rock heart." Whatever words surface, the bottom line is these guys are good. Their off-kilter, free-for-all style would probably catch the ear of jamgrass fans, while their on-stage zest and abandon makes them a natural fit for any rock club. Jackson Hives TBA Monday
